Salisbury Steak from the 50's..
North American excellent comfort food.
Classic Salisbury Steak Recipe
This Classic Salisbury Steak Recipe is an old fashioned comfort food recipe you're surely familiar with. A favorite among many Moms and Grandmas out there, this hearty dinner staple is made a little modern in this easy ground beef recipe. This savory vintage meal is sure to make mouths water around the dinner table any time you settle on this recipe. Make sure you make it a complete old-fashioned meal experience and consider making Baked Alaska or a Jell-O dessert for after dinner's over.

Ingredients
1 1/4 pound ground chuck (Lean mince)
1/4 cup fresh parsley, minced
1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (Plain or Self Raising Flour)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups onions, sliced
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 cups beef broth
1/4 cup dry red wine
Instructions.
Combine ground meat, salt, pepper, and parsley. Divide evenly into 4 portions and shape each into 3/4-inch to 1-inch thick oval patties. Place 2 Tbsp flour in a shallow dish; dredge each patty in flour. Reserve 1 tsp flour.
Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a saute pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and saute 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove from pan.
Add onions and sugar to pan; saute 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and tomato paste; saute 1 minute, or until paste begins to brown.
Sprinkle onions with reserved flour; cook 1 minute. Stir in broth and wine.
Return meat to pan and bring soup to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
Serve while hot.

I made this last night and it was excellent. I did add a little mushroom powder, a little onion powder, one agg and some breadcrumbs to the meat mixture and it possibly could do with just a tiny bit more salt, but to each his own taste. The gravy was great and I served it with mash and beans.

I tried it some time ago Admin. A little more seasoning would have enhanced the flavour for me.
