Yes, I DO remember them, and I had one.
If memory serves, you put a little explosive cap in the base.
The pointy bit at the tip could slide, so when you threw it on the floor it would pierce the cap and make it fly in the air.
I was playing with mine near Stopforth St in Ince and it went 30 feet up in the air and landed in the scrap dealers nearby, so I lost it.

A toy inspired by the V2 Rocket, you would put a cap in, throw it high and it came down nose first and set the cap off with a loud bang when it landed... just like a V2 but only not as deadly.

I remember the smellllllll of those caps once they'd gone bang . Great.
