Brilliant idea, lolly, but I believe the money should go to the families concerned ...or...the NHS itself.

Surely a monument for much less money could be built.??

Three teenagers have been convicted of the manslaughter of PC Andrew Harper, who died after being dragged along a road by a car.

PC Harper suffered catastrophic fatal injuries when his ankles got caught in a strap trailing behind a vehicle driven by Henry Long, in August 2019.

Long, 19, had earlier admitted manslaughter but was cleared of murder.

Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole, both 18, were cleared of murder but found guilty at the Old Bailey of manslaughter.

Following their convictions, it can now be revealed jurors in the trial had to be given special protection after police received intelligence associates of the killers had planned to intimidate them.

I hope they get the maximum sentence, but I fear they will only get 4 years at best.

The killers of a police officer who was dragged to his death behind their getaway car have been jailed.

PC Andrew Harper died when he suffered catastrophic injuries as his ankles got caught in a strap attached to the car.

Driver Henry Long, was jailed for 16 years for his manslaughter, in Berkshire last August.

PC Harper's widow Lissie said she was in "a lost and endless world" after her husband was killed in the line of duty, a month after their wedding day.

Long's accomplices Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole received 13 years for the same offence of manslaughter.

Thomas King, 22, who was not in the car, was sentenced to two years after previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal a quad bike.

A long-serving police officer has been shot dead at Croydon Custody Centre in south London.

The male sergeant was shot in the chest before the suspect turned the firearm on himself, sources have told the BBC.

The man had been brought to the custody suite in a police vehicle and the shooting happened during questioning about Covid-19, the BBC was told.

"This morning we learnt of the shocking death of a much loved colleague," said Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.
