Pik a Wik...

Next Monday begins a new thread on Speykers corner. It will be a members photo which will last for one week and then change. Members are invited to send in their photos plus a short one word or one sentence description of it. Photos must be your own and can be of anything from Wigan to Woolaroo. Please send them to Admin via a pm. If anyone has difficulty sending via a pm please let me know and I will send you my personal e-mail address. We are looking forward to seeing your photos of your travels and adventures.

This is part of the Reichenbach Fall, waterfall, which is just outside the Swiss Town of Meiringen.
It's the Place where Sherlock Holmes fell to his Death fighting with his arch enemy Moriarty.

Not really. Holmes was killed off in the 1893 novel called "The Final Problem." At the time, conan Doyle wanted to write of other things. Public pressure was put on him to resurrect Holmes, which he did 8 years later in "The Hound of the Baskervilles."

One of the things that surprised me about Meiringen was the fact that very few British people seem to have heard of its connection with Sherlock holmes. Theres even a museum, situated in Conan Doyle Place, and even a statue of the detective. Of course, there are other worthwhile things to do there as well.
