Where have they all come from!

For the last couple of days We have had These all round the front of the building, and fluttering into our front windows. I know what they are, but why so many now?

Thanks NM, I had heard about them, but I thought it was mainly down South. Also We have not seen them until the last few days.

We arrived home from holiday around 4 o’clock yesterday and as we were unpacking and putting stuff here and there, we noticed little white flecks of stuff on the dining room carpet under Mrs RMJ’s leather armchair.
Long story short they are moth larvae, hundreds of them!!!!!.
We have a cordless Dyson, so we spent a good deal of time vacuuming the little blighters up.
This morning there were more, it seems we have an 80% wool carpet and they are probably deep in the carpet pile.
We will get some chemicals to deal with them and I’ll give the whole carpet a shampoo with our Vax machine.
We were joking that if we’d gone away for 2 weeks we could have come home to thousands of moths fluttering round our dining room.

Mrs RMJ is talking of replacing said carpet with wooden flooring.
