During September & October, Age UK Wigan Borough are hosting a special Helpdesk to support people in using IT.

Do you need help to use IT?

Want to Zoom with friends, call your family with Facetime, or book something through a website?

Our friendly Helpdesk Officer will help sort basic issues so that you can use technology & link with people & activities online.

The IT "keeping in touch" sounds brill jo anne. I use skype on a daily basis to keep in touch with my family, a god send
over the summer months of lockdown

‘Keeping in Touch’ is the newsletter’s name, Lolly, but the IT help is all about that too, & does sound very useful

Wigan Council has a TechMates service which aims to prevent isolation for those residents who were and perhaps still are unable to leave their homes, and may not have the necessary digital skills to utilise technology.

How it helped Colin with volunteers and staff providing one-to-one digital support over the phone:

I didn't know AgeUK was a council-run charity?

It isn’t, Ticsmon, but its services cover all the borough.

It's name is Age 'UK'.  It's  services cover all the UK, which is every 'borough'.
Everywhere, they are just called  'AgeUK'.   Why, then, do any in the Wigan council area have to be called "Age UK Wigan borough" ?

It really is a 'Wigan word', "borough".   Council-mad bloody brainwashed borough!  

Age UK is the national charity, Ticsmon, whereas Age UK Wigan Borough is an independent charity that supports older people in the borough of Wigan. (Link
