Snip the straps
On face masks and dispose of properly. This poor bird was caught up in a mask for about a week. By the time it was caught it could only hop stumble and fall over.

If people are moronic enough to throw away face mask as litter, do you really think they are going to good enough to cut the straps?

Probably not cad. I see loads of masks discarded, as I;m sure others do. Why can people not just take them home and get rid. Is it too much to ask.

I'm not having it that those two birds have 'accidentally' got into that situation. I'd say it would be a one in a million chance of that happening, if not impossible.
It's a set-up.

Re: Snip the straps
I thought that this thread was going to be on the lines of a gownless evening strap.

Re: Snip the straps
Any day, six days a week, I could collect at least a dozen elastic bands from the footpath, thrown down by postmen.
And that's only one street.
How strange, then, that no birds have been reported as having become tangled in elastic bands yet?

Re: Snip the straps
Birds could eat them thinking they are worms. Just as bad if not worse than getting tangled in them

Re: Snip the straps
A while ago, 5p plastic carrier bags were outlawed in the UK. It was a 'big issue'!
Even bio-degradable plastic bags were condemned as being 'worse' due to them quickly breaking up into smaller plastic 'bits', getting stuck in birds and fishes guts.
The price of plastic carrier bags skyrocketed!
Today, I noticed that Aldi have started selling "100% degradable plastic carrier bags" again. Green ones. The shelf-edge sticker said - 15p.
The problem is, people believe what they are told by those who they regard as 'knowledgeable'. They know nothing much. They are just trying to re-invent the wheel and are making a good living out of it !

No. Let's simply put them in the nearest litter bin, or our pocket, or handbag, and dispose of them correctly when we get home.
