Stamps
Our National Parks are being celebrated on the latest Royal Mail stamps - https://shop.royalmail.com/special-stamp-issues/national-parks
If a set of stamps celebrated places in Wigan Borough, where would you want to see feature?

Perhaps they should build a new Wigan pier there (if it's in Wigan that is)

I’ve just seen this lovely message by the artist’s daughter - posted on WW Album 3rd Nov 2020:

Hi everyone this is my dad’s painting. He is self taught and started painting after having to give up his job due to health problems, his first paintings and drawings were very detailed, then we found out he had skin cancer and needed extensive surgery, then sadly he became riddled in arthritis, rather than give up what he loved doing he changed his style. He describes himself as Dali mixed with lowry and his own Chippendale twist. I’m in awe of how he never gives up. We very nearly lost him on New Year’s Day, he just started painting again in July. His paintings are inspired by the northen working class and his experiences of working on the railway x

Long shot...does anyone have a clear, close up photo of the bench shown in the photo posted by Lolly?

Re: Stamps
Thats the one Lolly/jo AnneI was trying to makw out if it was soldiers or possibly miners. Now I know!
My suggestion for a stamp.
"Bamfurlong was a farm in the boggy region of the Marish in the eastern Shire. It was the home of Farmer Maggot,[1] who (like the other Hobbits in this inhospitable area) lived above ground rather than in a traditional Hobbit-hole. Farmer Maggot's farm was well-known in the area for his mushrooms, which he protected fiercely against trespassers with his three fearsome dogs."
As this is from the Lord of the Rings books by Tolkien, could it not be a good subject? (Even if the place is only near to Wigan½)

Wigan usually have some great Chinese New Year celebrations but they were cancelled last year: https://www.wigantoday.net/news/uk-news/wigans-chinese-new-year-celebrations-cancelled-amid-coronavirus-outbreak-1394529
The pictorial labels depict Lunar New Year festivities taking place in five UK locations – Liverpool, Edinburgh, Swansea, London and Belfast, whilst the remainder show five Lunar New Year related images.
The Year of the Ox runs from 12 February 2021 to 31st January 2022.
The Ox is the second in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac and if you’re born under this sign you’re believed to be intelligent, dependable, honest and hardworking.
