Eckersley mill

Along with most iconic buildings in Wigan , Eckersley Mill
  one of the looming structures on Wigans horizon is being
 demolished .

       

Shame it was left to rot. A lot could have been done with it.

Thanks for sharing the video, Gassey. That’s really saddened me. Hope they’re able to salvage some of the beautiful buildings and make something of them. I’ve only started exploring the area recently and dreaming what I’d do - if I won the lottery.

No worries Jo-Anne , apparently one of the walls became unsafe
and was knocked down causing weakness to part of the building
wich in turn had to come down , rest of building being assessed for
safety '

They need Fred Dibnah  RIP  to bring that chimney down.

Lets hope they find a use for what is left.

Look how black those chimneys were!

Such stunning buildings - some of what’s left needs a lot of TLC.

Wigan Today reported late 2021/early ‘22 that the complex had been bought by a developer, but I’ve not heard of any work.

Although I did notice recently that Wigan Pier Antiques & Oddities had closed, so perhaps there is something afoot?
