Children on strike
Manipulated?
I am concerned that they may be being brain washed into serial protesters by lifelong activists

Re: Children on strike
These are the very people, our children, who climate change will affect. Not the oldies

Do we really have 12 years to save the planet?
The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people.
The authors of the landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released on Monday say urgent and unprecedented changes are needed to reach the target, which they say is affordable and feasible although it lies at the most ambitious end of the Paris agreement pledge to keep temperatures between 1.5C and 2C.
The half-degree difference could also prevent corals from being completely eradicated and ease pressure on the Arctic, according to the 1.5C study, which was launched after approval at a final plenary of all 195 countries in Incheon in South Korea that saw delegates hugging one another, with some in tears.

I think these young adults need applauding for their efforts in bringing climate change to the fore, not only here but across the world. It's their future they are trying to protect.

Re: Children on strike
Not really surprising that the map that was shown on tv last night, showing all the protests all over the world, had Two extremely large gaps...…..All Russia and All China. The two countries that have no intention of cutting back on anything, and which (Due to their size) Nullifies any good done elsewhere.

I don’t think Donald Trump has a particularly good track record when it comes to climate change.

Re: Children on strike
I do agree with you both, although there were quite a few of the protests, in fact quite a lot according to the map, all over America, which is the main difference to Russia and China. None of them have a good record, but at least people are free to protest about it in America.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/how-greta-thunberg-s-autism-helps-give-her-a-singular-focus-1.5301634
Greta Thunberg has met with world leaders, had an audience with the pope and made an impassioned plea to the United Nations. She's done it all in the public eye, facing down trolls and sounding off against politicians, an impressive feat for any teenager.
The 16-year-old has reached millions with her message about the need for urgent action on climate change. She's also inspired people with her public acknowledgement that she's on the autism spectrum.
She calls her autism her "superpower." She has a clear message: she succeeds not in spite of her disability, but because of it.
