Plans for Haigh Hall
Underground bunker cinema and "world class dining" to feature in multi-million pound Haigh Hall development
The £37.5m project is set to restore and expand the historic site “to its former glory”.
A derelict zoo on School Lane, just off the main complex, is set to be transformed into a new visitors attraction and learning centre. The new "multi-purpose garden pavilion” and education and training hubs will provide more activity space. The works will include a 16 space car park.
The former zoo on School Lane closed in the 1990s and, after a short spell housing a model village, has been left vacant ever since.

Leigh MP and Wigan Council disappointed with rejected Levelling Up bid
WIGAN Council said it is "extremely disappointed" to have lost out on funding to regenerate Leigh town centre, after submitting a bid the town's MP called "deeply flawed".
Following the second round of the government's Levelling Up Fund, Wigan Council has been unsuccessful in its £11.4m bid to regenerate central areas of Leigh.
Able to submit bids of up to £20m for each constituency, the local authority also failed with a £7.2m bid for Ashton-in-Makerfield but was successful in its £20m submission for Haigh Hall.

The former zoo on School Lane closed in the 1990s and, after a short spell housing a model village, has been left vacant ever since.
It's about time something was finally done with the area where the old mini zoo used to be at Haigh Hall.
Sadly the area has just been abandoned and allowed to become overgrown with vegetation ever since the zoo closed to the public in 1994 following massive criticism of the cramp and poor conditions that the animals were being kept in.
Here's a video of me exploring the remains of the former zoo at Haigh Hall with Mrs H and my dogs in 2019 for anyone interested.

@HallHaigh
An incredible week for Haigh Hall… The safety barrier is up, next step scaffolding, hoarding artwork installation… then the work really begins... 56 weeks of stone cleaning, roof repairs, window restoration, drainage maintenance. Excited to see the glass cupola shining again.

Take a sneak peak inside the historic Haigh Hall...
Work is really progressing behind the scenes on our ambitious renovation of our much-loved local landmark. Here's a quick look behind closed doors courtesy of contractors HH Smith & Sons.

Haigh Hall Heritage Matters
@FriendsOpen
The once green Parbold Stone now cleaned and looking so good.
Cracked chimney pots sent away for moulds to be recast.
They have sent a version of each pot.
Such attention to detail.
