Re: Pigeon peas
There is a whole raft of them on Amazon but they don't look quite the same and prices vary considerably. Maybe worth a look...
Re: Pigeon peas
Some will have been crop sprayed with chemicals and are not fit for human consumption
Others will be fit for human consumption
Yer takes your chance
If they're labeled as pigeon peas thats what theyre for, if they're labeled black peas that should be for human consumption, do you trust the retailer though, he might be trying to vastly increase his profits

Re: Pigeon peas
We had knocker uppers all over Wigan. Here’s Mary Smith, she was a dab hand with her pea shooter...
Mary Smith of Brenton Street, Scholes was 65 when this photo was taken in 1931. She earned around sixpence a week as a knocker-upper and, following in her mother's footsteps jobwise, was paid to wake workers in the early morning. She woke her clients by shooting peas at their windows and is thought to have been one of Wigan's last knocker-uppers. Mary had married Thomas Edward Smith in 1884 when she was 19 and they had 13 children only two of whom survived to adulthood.
