Nitnoersamd
Prompted by a post on Wigan World. Some one is looking for "Nitnoersamd", Ince, Wigan, Lancashire, England. Has anyone heard of this place? It would be interesting to know.

Any place near Ince with "over" in the name? I thought of Grange over Sands but that's not Ince

I don't really think they are bothered now as the post was from March 2020. They were probably seeing things as they went slowly potty during lockdown.

I dont suppose they are. I was just interested. I wondered if the mid section was supposed to be lower and the W was missing

It's from the 1851 Census, which is quite difficult to read at times, and the transcriptions are worse than useless. I think this is where the word was found. I am pretty good at working them out, but from the Census itself, not the transcription, which very often when you compare them has no relationship to what is written at all.

I've looked on old maps of Ince to see if something jumps out. Alas Nowt

Have you checked the area of Spring View as well Lolly, as that sometimes gets classed as Lower Ince as well, but don't say that to any 'Viewers'!
My theory on this after reading the thread on WiganWorld is that 'Nitnoersamd' is either a spelling mistake of the name of a dwelling that is now probably long gone or it was written down phonetically in Lanky dialect which would have been in use more back in 1851 than it is today.
