Staff arrived for work at the Robin Park site this morning (Friday) to be given the devastating news the cinema was shutting its doors permanently and they were being made redundant.

A sign has been posted at the front of the building to say the cinema has now closed and administrators have been appointed.

So they demolish the Ritz cinema to make way for a shopping centre, and now demolish a shopping centre to make way for a cinema.

Couldn’t agree more, NM. Hope they really think about the decision next week and use their not-so-common sense.

Sad news about the Empire Cinema at Robin Park. Awful situation for its staff.

It's not unlikely that the new cinema will belong to the Empire chain. Go into administration and open up under another name. It's bee done before.
