A bit of Wigan history found in Adlington 20230810

Spotted the grave of 'James Solomon Kay' founder of Westwood Hall Colliery and the original owner of Westwood Hall in Lower Ince, which was lost due to arson last year during a mooch around Adlington Cemetery the other day searching for the grave of Adlington's most famous son 'Lenoard Fairclough' founder of the construction company that eventually became 'Fairclough Homes' which I successfully found.

Interestingly James Kay chose to leave Westwood Hall upon his death to his brother Abraham who at the time was a confirmed bachelor then aged 66 rather than to his wife who is buried with him and has the rather strange epitaph of 'She did her best'.

Anyone any theories on why James Kay and this branch of the Kays are buried in Adlington when his successors are buried in Lower Ince Cemetery?
