'The Galleries' Wigan - Demolition

Have you ever heard of 'Wigan Watch' LINK Tony does a video about Wigan every week, which includes the demolition of The Galleries and other things around Wigan Town Centre, and any rumours he has heard, and you can't beat a good rumour, latest rumour is that Shoo Zone is coming back to Wigan    

He has a shop in The Grand Arcade, which he talks about in his videos, I don't know if you have any rules on here about stuff like that.

Dunno, it is what Tony said

It is coming towards the end of the demolition of The Galleries, they are demolishing the corner of the old Morrisons store, where the entrance was located on New Market Street, or to be more accurate on  "The galleries access road adjacent to New Market Street" and then that is it, it is gone    





Obviously they want the demolition to be complete by the Christmas break, and then how long whilst they clear the site of demolition rubble, maybe a month or so and then what ?

The old Marketgate site where they are going to be building the new Market Hall as been cleared since about September, so why have the builders not started building the new Market Hall ?

Will building work start as soon as the demolition people leave the site ?

Your guess is as good as mine TTS. Will they build all those apartments first then the New market?

I can't see people renting or buying apartments in a town with no heart/shops.....

I expect that the ones living in the town centre will be working there or commuting into
Manchester or elsewhere for work. They are only a hop skip and a jump from both
stations. There will be entertainment on hand close by, and also shops. That's my thoughts anyway.
