Bluebird
Making its way back to the Lake District.
After a lengthy legal battle over its ownership, the restored hydroplane was lifted onto a transport lorry in North Shields for the journey to Coniston's Ruskin Museum.
The high-speed craft somersaulted during a water speed record attempt in 1967 and was lost to the bottom of Coniston Water.

Re: Bluebird
I believe that the engine has been removed and won't go until a replacement is found

Re: Bluebird
Apparently, when the restored Bluebird was being tested on the Scottish Loch, the driver/pilot opened her up and went far faster than he should have done, and nearly crashed it into the shore at the other end of the lake LINK so I think the bother with it and why there has been a fallout, is because the chap who recovered Bluebird and restored it, he wanted to take it around the country and show it off to folk and have it running on lakes, Donald Campbells daughter wants it put on display in the museum, what I think is that Bluebird is an unstable deathtrap, that is why it crashed in the first place in 1967 and I actually remember that happening at the time, so if they keep operating it on lakes, sooner or later I think the accident will repeat itself, and the thing will flip over again, so I agree with it being put on permanent display as a static exhibit in the museum
Re: Bluebird
Well said TTS, and as Lolly says "back where it belongs".
It should get lots of visitors in the future.
