Hospitals are being asked to carry out more video-based consultations of patients to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

NHS England hopes the move will reduce the number of people in hospitals and lower the potential for transmission.

Meanwhile, the government is launching a major public health campaign urging people to regularly wash their hands.

Officials believe up to a fifth of the workforce may be off sick during the peak of an epidemic in the UK.

Twelve new cases of coronavirus were announced in England on Tuesday, bringing the total number of UK cases to 51.

I think the good thing to come out of this outbreak is that people are being told about personal hygiene.
Apart from washing your hands regularly, especially when you’ve been out in public places, we are being told to not touch things like handrails.
I’m a bit of an obsessive hand washer so this is right up my street.

Coronavirus: Three days more sick pay for self-isolating workers.

Workers will get statutory sick pay from the first day off work, not the fourth, to help contain coronavirus, the prime minister has said.

I've been a hand washer since childhood..so nowt new to me..since getting a little dog,they're washed every time I've handled him.

Health experts have confirmed that two people in Wigan have tested positive for coronavirus.

Both COVID-19 cases in the borough are unrelated, as confirmed by Wigan Council.

This morning, the amount of people in the UK testing positive for the virus was 90.

Professor Kate Ardern, director of public health at Wigan Council said: "We have received confirmation of two unrelated COVID-19 cases in Wigan Borough.
