Disaffected crewmen led by Leiutenant
Fletcher Christian , seized control of the ship from their captain
Leiutenant William Bligh , and set him and eighteen loyalists adrift
in the ships open launch . The mutineers returned to Tahiti briefly ,
before settling on Pitcairn island , Bligh meanwhile , completed a
voyage of of more than three thousand five hundred nautical
miles to safety , and began the process of bringing the mutineers
to justice .
