Steak pudding were a favourite

Every Saturday when I was in my teens I'd go shopping with my Mam,go round the shops and to every shop that sold hats..my Mam saying "come on love, try this one on" but we'd always finish our shopping trip by going to Gorners cafe, all the waitresses wore black dresses with little white aprons edged with frills..I've never forgotten the smell of it as we went down the arcade..they were lovely times.
