J J B Sports Shop

Here’s a picture of JJB sports shop in Market St.
 
I think it was originally J J Broughton, then became J J Bradburn if memory serves.
 
Ultimately it became part of Dave Whelan’s empire.

I wonder what will become of the historic O & C Rushton Warehouse building, now that Wigan UTC has closed.

JJB's had a camping exibition place at Abbey lakes , and in the big hall at the back we used to play 5 a side competitions . And the building I think Jo Anne is refering to used to be the Gas show rooms . One night , in the early hours , there was a report of a car crash out side there . When we got there there was plate glass and gas cookers all over the place with a moggie 1000 parked up in the middle of the shop window ,the driver was as pi*&%d as a fa&*, when asked what he was doing he replied " I've come to pay mi gas bill " Happy daze.
