Lowry is one of my favourite artists along with the less well know local #Wigan #artist J.L.Ishe

The restoration work was done by a local company - Lost Art Limited.

I’ve only just seen this charity calendar, sorry I missed it!
The wintry scene above would be fantastic for December 2022.

Delighted to see this photo of the replica Coalbrookdale Fountain that we produced and installed in Mesnes Park, Wigan being included in a calendar of images of Lockdown Wigan. Wonderful that it has also helped raise money to support The Samaritans and has now sold out!

What year is this Fred? I don't see the Boer War Monument

The Boer War statue was removed by the time I used to visit as a lad.  I believe it ended up in a garden somewhere.  But I do remember the empty plinth it used to stand on.  It has been replaced by another statue now I think?

There was an article in Past Forward about this... I will hunt it out later.

I think I can see it, very vaguely, Lolly.

2005: FoMP donates a restored plaque and re-gilded plinth to the Boer War Memorial, and together with the Friends of the Boer War Memorial and the Duke of Lancaster’s Yeomanry, stage a period costume ceremonial, attended by the Mayor, Cllr. Mrs. Eunice Smethurst. (Link)
