Mr H in search of Katie
Mr H tracks down Haigh Hall Miniature Railway's original steam engine 'Katie' that ran in the early years after the railway opened in 1986 to it's new home at Kirklees Light Railway located at West Clayton in Yorkshire, where she is still in service and entertaining passengers today.

Thanks, Lolly. There was once a discussion about Katie on WW.

Re: Mr H in search of Katie
Hi jo anne, I posted it last year when WP was starting up, an interesting story which deserved another airing, perhaps some of our new members missed the original post. I do think like tpmmytee that Mr H posts some good stuff.

I think Mr H’s videos are brilliant, Lolly
I’ve just watched Mr H & Mrs H ‘Walking Haigh Hall’s Miniature Railway Track’, which was filmed this time last year:
Mr and Mrs H walk along the mile long loop of Haigh Hall's 15 inch gauge miniature railway track which first opened to passengers in 1986 to take a look at some of the features from both the past and present of what was once considered Haigh Country Park’s signature attraction
In 2010, I asked about a sculpture that was then alongside the track & a HHCP warden told me:

The sculpture was made by a forester named Derek Lomas, who, unhappily, has since passed away. It was made about five years ago.
The very top represents a sled dog (Derek was a keen sled musher and owned several huskies). The climber is Derek succeeding in his attempt on the Matterhorn. The prancing deer is his artistic license.

Yes, & though no longer in Haigh, she seems to be in her hey day at Kirklees.
As Mr H says, it’s a shame we lost our steam trains, but at least we have the diesel locos thanks to Derek Moss of Appley Bridge.
