Note the licence plate EK Wasn't that a Wigan prefix?

The licence plate appears to be EK 402. That would have been issued somewhere between 1903 and the mid 1930's. EK was officially described as "EK - Warrington (Wigan to 1974, Warrington to 1981). So yes, it was from the Wigan area. As an aside, Wigan also had JP.

It was. ED was also described the same way as EK. "ED - Warrington (Wigan to 1974, Warrington to 1981."
Edit: The lorry in the photo was registered before the Great War, and made in Wigan (or more correctly, near to). The driver in the photo was a Harry Potter. I wonder if he was related to the wizard?

Its possible, I do remember that Wigan Corporation buses all had low numbers. There was a bit of a fuss over them being sold off at far to low a value some years ago.

I remember the mayor's cars having the reg AEK 1 in the 1960s and '70s

Returning to the Dray Wagon. I know Pagefield lorries were manufactured at Pagefield Iron Works. Where was that situated? Anyone know?
