That was my first beat Wallgate, they had started to knock down some of the terraced houses , from Miry lane up towards town . They replaced them as they went , it seemed , overnight , with light industrial units ( Peter Blonds) etc; When you went down Miry Lane to the end , it turned sharp right up Prescott Street , under the little bridge and up to Frog Lane . Miry Lane at that junction was a dirt track that led to the Gypsie camp , next to the canal , and despite tales , I've had quite a number of drinks of tea there .

Nordic, I got to know one of the travellers when we'd be stood in the School yard..she was from Miry Lane and she was a lovely person plus her twin boys were always immaculately dressed.
