Hallgate 1940s
Maurice Vizard
"I could never find a photo of Hallgate with the weavers cottages included. They were demolished for the bus station. I was born in the middle one in 1936, so I painted from memory how it was in the 40’s when I attended Bluecoat school"

Re: Hallgate 1940s
Oddly enough, I have just seen a post on FB about the Bluecoats school, which stood where the Stagecoach office use to be on the old bus-station.

Re: Hallgate 1940s
Was there an earlier bluecoat school nearer to the parish church?

Re: Hallgate 1940s
The opening post photograph is not the same
Hallgate as the second picture , the second one being
the hallgate that runs from the main Hallgate to
Market st where the two ladies are to the left is
now Jaxon Court leading to the bus station and
bishopgate ,or king of Prussia yard to their right ,
at the bottom , more or less to the right of the
photographer is the cobblers with the moving
puppet cobbler in the window
