Old map of town centre 1827 the main routes Wallgate Standishgate and Millgate and Hallgate

Interesting that Market Street does not go through to the old market hall, because the old market hall was not built then. I wonder what photos would show of the buildings back then, but photography was not advanced also back then.

The first photograph was taken in France in 1826 - so I doubt it had reached Wigan a year later

For some reason I also find the drawings more interesting than photographs. They seem to have more character.
