Very tasteful Lolly.

I like the individual shops as opposed to high street chains. I think there will be a lot of little independent shops springing up in the future.

I bet it was warm in there in those days with all them Gaslamp's lit

Many many years ago, in the early hours of the morning, a stolen car ran into a lamppost in Market Street, and the driver bailed out and ran up the ramp of the old Centre Arcade, pursued by a police officer on foot.
This was rather a stupid move on the car thief's part, as there was nowhere he could go, once up there.
With the bobby hot on his tail, he thought he saw a way of escape, and jumped down seven or eight feet off the roof's parapet, onto what looked in the dark, like the pitched roof of an adjoining building.
Unfortunately for him, the 'pitched roof' was in fact the glass roof of the Makinson Arcade.
There was an almighty crash, followed by a scream, as he went through the glass and fell twenty five feet to the arcade floor.
The pursuing officer rightly surmised there was no further need for hurry, and strolled back down to street level and to the arcade, where he picked the pieces up.
