The origin of the word “sinister” reflects a historical bias against left-handed people. It comes from the Latin word for “left,” which was also seen to be unlucky or evil.

Hence my mum being smacked at school and made to write with her right hand.

Lolly, that happened to my Dad too.
He did everything left handed but could write very well with his right hand.
