Some howlers:-

‘Damp squid’ is sometimes misquoted as ‘damp squib’.

‘He got off scotch free’ is 'He got off scot free’.

It’s not hanging on ‘tender hooks’, it’s hanging on ‘tenterhooks’.

It IS damp 'squib'... a squib is a firework and if damp will not go off,

A let down, not as expected, a failure.

Try typing damp SQUID into Google and see what you get.

You are quite correct Mr Cad.

I meant to type "people say damp squid instead of damp squib",but I got it mixed up.
