Yes, I agree. I do remember going to Wigan Grammar School by bus in the fifties. Lolly, you know from where....the bus stop on Helvellyn Rd. No doors, and short pants, in the winter...we bloody well froze.....
BUT that was all we had back then and we accepted it. We were tough little beggars...and today I am proud of us back then....Yeah...

The oldest photo to be taken in Wigan Market Place, it was taken during the American civil war of 1861 to 1865,Wigan relied on cotton from America and there was a cotton famine through those years the Photo is on display Wigan Library
