Just above the printed 'W 1043' a couple of white oblongs and some dark 'verticals' can be seen. I think these are the entrance and railings surrounding the ladies.
Just to the left of these, a pillar about 12 feet high can be seen catching the light. This was a cast iron ventilator, which I think served both the ladies and gents. As i recall, it was a fluted column, with an air vent on top, painted black and white.
I've taken the liberty of capturing and 'tweaking' an area of Admin's pic, so things can be seen more clearly.

Ta, I can see the railings now. I still think it a scene from the 40s. The men wearing hats, and what looks like a delivery cart?

I imagine there were two tracks for Standishgate one up one down and the third going straight on to Pemberton. Just a guess. That's a nice Harry Walder painting, I have two of his work.
