Re: Kitt Green.
I dont think it is the Miners Arm at Kitt Green, certainly not in the 60s. The mine was near
Montrose Ave, Norley Hall and what we use to call The Red Ash.

Re: Kitt Green.
The Miners Lamp was in Orrell, on Ormskirk RD. Up the road from The White Swan.

Re: Kitt Green.
(Not that it matters) , the Miner's Arms was on City Road Kitt Green , passed Montrose Ave on your right , it was another 75 yards on your left , another 40 yards on , and that was the entry to you right on old Norley Quarry .

Nordic I remember the red ash [down Montrose Ave] as we kids used to call it. It looked like something out of a disaster movie

Re: Kitt Green.
When they first built Pem Senior School the playgrounds were mud / dirt and a kerb around it ,(as tarmaced later on) . On the left was Norley quarry with a none existent fence around it (That was later used as landfill and leveled off ) , in front was Red Ash, smoundering away from spontaneous combustion going on ,That was moved later on .) and to the right was a pond,( that was later filled in ). ????? Health and safety , still no one I ever heard of was injured etc; happy days .

Re: Kitt Green.
I remember my sister taking me via the Red Ash to visit an elderly uncle who lived at
Marsh Green before the new houses were built. If memory serves there were only about 10 terraced houses there at the time. All had tall stone steps, my little legs could hardly cope

I remember at the bottom of Marsh Green before they built all the housed , a brickworks , with lodges and we would go fishing in them and then go up the track and come out near to Heinzizizizizizi , then back up City Road cut thro where you lived Lolly , over the Green and back home for some bacon shape butties and condensed milk butties , and maybe a sugar butty .

Re: Kitt Green.
Wow, Nordic, I remember the same.
Harry Hortons Lodge and another nearby. Long before the road was cut through to Beech Hill.
The road ran past the pub and the old brickworks up to the railway crossing to Martland Mill. Following the contours of the hills.
I have a pic somewhere which I will find and post.

Re: Kitt Green.
At long last the derelict land on City Road Kitt Green, is now being built on with from what I'm told will be 5 houses. The photos sows the terrace that once stood there, and the and the empty plot.

Shuttleworths paper shop is the white building in the distance on the lower photo. Top photo is where the post office was. To the left of what was the post office top photo was a lane that lead to some allotments. Bill Shuttleworth had one and so did my brother.
