The Great Orme, Llandudno
I have always know the Great Orme is named for a giant serpent, the headland resembles a crocodile's or dragon head. The Vikings word for serpent (or Dragon) was 'Orme'. What I did not realise was just how much the headland DID resemble a FULL serpent. To the left of this photo (taken by me from Llandudno Pier) the three craggy cliffs actually look like the coils of a massive serpent...

Lovely photo, Cadfael, I didn’t know the significance of its name. It’s a while since I’ve been to Llandudno but I have climbed to the top of the Orme the once.

It was a flying visit, we went up the Orme on the tram and just stayed around the summit complex. We saw no goats up there, but we have seen them in the past.

The name ‘Orme’ is derived from an old Norse word for Worm or Sea Serpent.
