Market Square.

I remember applying for a job in a photography shop, about two or three shops up from Frog Lane. The owner asked me a technical question about dilution and percentages about developer chemicals for film. I answered correctly and he said that I was the only applicant that answered it correctly. He looked quite pleased and I thought that I had cracked it. However I did not get the job. He had asked me what was my religion and what did my father do for a living. I told him honestly and later found out that he was a Catholic and also a bit of a snob.

So being technically qualified for the job I was of the wrong religion and breeding. Thank goodness that I did not get that job.

Market Square late 1950's.

Are you sure that's  Market Square Fred? I don't remember there being tram lines on the market square. Market Place yes.

You are right, Lolly. I did wonder at the time but I didn't remember cobbles in the market place.
