'Final' Beatles song
Sir Paul McCartney says artificial intelligence has enabled a 'final' Beatles song
ir Paul McCartney says he has employed artificial intelligence to help create what he calls "the final Beatles record".
He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme the technology had been used to "extricate" John Lennon's voice from an old demo so he could complete the song.
"We just finished it up and it'll be released this year," he explained.
Sir Paul did not name the song, but it is likely to be a 1978 Lennon composition called Now And Then.

Me too, Lolly!
Sir Paul had received the demo in 1994 from Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono. It was one of several songs on a cassette labelled "For Paul" that Lennon had made shortly before his death in 1980.
Cleaned up by producer Jeff Lynne, two of those songs - Free As A Bird and Real Love - were completed and released in 1995 and 96, marking the Beatles' first "new" material in 25 years.

Thank you for that Jo Anne
Being a Beatles fan I look forward to hearing it.
It seems modern AI technology has rescued an old home made poor quality recording from obscurity.
Will I buy it?, I should, but since I’m trying to downsize and get rid of literally hundreds of CDs and vinyl albums, I probably shouldn’t.

Re: 'Final' Beatles song
Personally, I think that is great that this Beatles song has hit number one. It completes the circle in a sense.
There is one thought that crossed my mind, and I wonder if others will agree or disagree.
Back in 1962, when they had their first No. 1, it was the start of a new era. A happy time. Britain, indeed the rest of the world was recovering from WW2, and the mood for the future was optimistic. This song in some ways ends that era. With all of the wars that are going on at present, there does not seem to be much optimism for the future. Or am I wrong. On this day, the phrase "Lest we forget" comes to mind. Maybe we have already forgotten. I hope I'm wrong!
