The UAE Boeing C-17 Globemaster flew into the airport over the weekend and took off again on Monday (January 29) How does this huge plane get off the ground?

Totally agree Lolly, the forces required from those engines cannot be imagined !!!!!!

Theres a Russian equivalent to that. Pictured here at RAF Manston some years ago. Its an Ilyushin IL-76TD.




However, both of these are dwarfed by the Ukranian built Antonov AN-225. Sorry I dont have a pic of that. Suffice to say, the Antonov makes the other two look like something that could be bought in a toy shop!

To give an idea of the size of the Antonov. There is so much space inside it, the very first flight that was made by the Wright Brothers in 1903 could have been made in it!

Quite correct, it did get hit and destroyed. From what I read earlier, a second that was only part built is now being completed. It would be great if they can succeed.

They're considering rebuilding the badly damaged one too
