Topiary Empty Topiary

Post by Lolly Thu Apr 04, 2024 2:20 pm

I'm looking for 2 of these but real ones, not artificial. I can find any amount of round ones, but non this shape. Exhausted the local garden centres, posh expensive ones to Very Happy and done numerous on line searches which amounted to nothing. So if anyone knows or sees any will you let me know

Theres a place in Norfolk called Harrods Outdoor. They usually haveYew cones that might ssuit your needs. I've never dealt with them, so cant vouch for them either way.

You may be able to find ones in Box. Both this and yew are common to use for this kind of stuff, but may be expensive.

There is a third option. I've just put one in my garden as it happens. Thats Thuja Occidentalis "Emerald Green." A lot less expensive than the other two, but do need regular trimming. I can take a photo of mine and post it if the weather ever improves.

Final comment. I can connect you with others that will know of other sources, but only in a PM.

I said that they were expensive. Be aware though that Thuja need a lot of trimming to keep them to size. They can get out of hand very quickly.

£140 does seem pricey. I'd quite like the Thuja as a stand alone specimen so would being a tub stunt it's growth? I could snip the top off.

I bought a real christmas tree at Sainsbury, its doing really well in a pot. Very Happy

I've zero experience of these in a tub, so cant really give a correct reply. Sorry!

If you do decide to get yew, thats one I would not put in a tub. The roots go deep.

As can be seen from the photo, I'm doing quite a few changes to this area of the garden, but here is the Thuja occidentalis "Emerald Green that was put into place a couple of days ago...

...ut should give a good idea of how they look in place.
