Car Parking
Are car parking spaces getting smaller or are cars getting bigger?

Cars are getting bigger! Uts a manufacturers trick. Compare the size of, say a VW Golf from when they were first introduced to subsequent years. Bigger generation after generation.

Re: Car Parking
The spaces are not necessarily getting smaller but cars ARE getting bigger.
On average cars were found to be getting 1cm wider every two years, mainly due to increasing SUV sales.
It was on TV yesterday, on this same subject, that cars are 130mm wider, that’s over 5” than two decades ago.
I agree with UJ, same model cars like the Golf and even smaller models like the Nissan Micra have got steadily bigger.

Some absolute beasts over here. Seem longer than coaches. High %age are SUV’s. However, because there is lots of land available, car park spaces are much larger. We always park away from the madding crowd. Better to walk a bit farther and be away from the giants.

I've got a VW polo the smallest car I've had for some time, but I always seem to find the smallest space. I used get really annoyed at those people who straggle two spaces. Now I see why they do it.
