I can see the policeman on point duty and the only place I saw that was the top of Library Street. The big building at the back of him is a bookies now I believe but was the Midland Bank at one time. The photographer would be stood at the entrance to the Commercial Yard.

My Mum did point duty there around 1960. It was where she met my Dad as he was coming home from a Wigan Rugby match with his pals. He was home on leave from the RAF. They got chatting and he asked her which bus she got home back to Haydock. He was on it. The rest, as they say, is histOYry
