Re: The Rwanda plan
Interesting that this has up to now not made the BBC news.
So have Sunak’s plans have been scuppered?
The report says :-
"The vote on the treaty is only advisory and cannot stop the treaty from being ratified, instead seeking to delay the ratification.
If the Commons were to vote the same way however, that would delay its ratification."
When you weigh it up, the main thrust of the plan was to act as a deterrent, in view of the fact that not one single person has been deported yet, do you think it will be?, I think not.
Also, think of the numbers involved, a plain load of migrants, would they be specially chartered flights or partly filled on a normal flight?, say 100 to 300 at most.
That is a drop in the ocean of the tens of thousands who have arrived here.

Sunak's Rwanda Bill suffers first defeat in House of Lords as Peers vote for amendment
Peers in the House of Lords have inflicted their first defeat on Rishi Sunak’s Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill by backing an amendment.
Amendment Two, which was supported by 274 peers to 172, states: "This amendment seeks to ensure that the eventual Act is fully compliant with the rule of law while maintaining full compliance with international and domestic law."

Re: The Rwanda plan
I still do not understand this plan. Simply ship them back to France. What is the problem?

Re: The Rwanda plan
France are glad to get shut of them. Why would they let them back in?

Re: The Rwanda plan
Exactly. They should be forced to take them back.
They are being paid to stop them from crossing the channel by us...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................

The French don't want to stop them, as soon as they leave they are not France's problem.

Re: The Rwanda plan
The main problem is way to many people making lots of money trafficking them here, and a very poor border force who seem incapable of turning them back.

I can’t understand why we, a maritime nation, can’t patrol our coastline more efficiently.
We have a Royal Navy that travels out to and patrols foreign waters to keep us safe, surely they can sail along the Channel and stop some piddly rubber dingeys, the very sight of them would put the wind up these intruders to our shores.

The English Chanel is the busiest shipping channel in the world, with hundreds of large
ships using it in a day. It beats me as to how these small rubber dinghies, can dodge them.
