I hope everyone is enjoying the varied photos sumitted by our members. I do have a few on file to cover the next few weeks but am always pleased to receive more. Please send your classic pics via PM or I will give anyone my personal e-mail if requested.
It may take a few weeks before you see your pic on Pik a Wik and if I do receive lots of photos, I may change it to 2 Piks a Wik.
Start digging................

Re: Pik a Wik...
and today's Pik a Wik is from our Lolly....
The photo is of my Father taken in India [round about 1941] during the second world war. As far as I can remember he was shipped out to Australia and the ship was torpedoed. Thus sending him back to India. Only for it to happen again. His pith helmet looks enormous . I wasn't even a twinkle in his eye back then.

I've not got much info to hand I gave all the paperwork [and his medals] I had to my daughter. He was with the Royal Artillery. I do remember that he finished his National service as a Sergeant Major. Dad never wanted his medals and never asked for them, he said he didn't want medals for killing people. I applied for them about 2 months before he died. His service bible was worse for wear, but contained many notes and references to bible verses. He wasn't religious, but clearly from his notes it brought him much comfort in
those troubled times.

Re: Pik a Wik...
Today we continue with a PIK from Uncle Joe...
This was taken in Sweden. It shows a Läckö Slott. (direct translation ”Leak Island Castle”). This is situated on the shores of a lake called Vänern. This is the largest lake in the EU. To give an idea of the size, the area it covers is roughly 2.4 times more than the WHOLE of the Lake District!
