I know , i fell off my motor bike , skidded across the road and went up that alley on the cobbles . If it is where I think it is .

There's a pub at the top of that alley. You may have been in,

Does it run from O.R. to W.S.opposite the P.O. in the B.N.And is the pub called The W.S.or....as usual I'm wrong.

I have just deciphered your post Nordic. Parbold rules par excellence. Yes It is

Ahhh , I think I remember it well , Jack Carringtons to the right , Cambells chemist further on Len's barbers at the corner of the alleyway , Brick Lane .To the left 'the three shops', again left up the short road to 'the big light' , White street left , Fleet Street to the right , White Swan had been rebuilt , possibly 'mid-late 60's, and the Bottle neck was further on than the bus . The road narrowed from the right , Post Office /general stores , and Harry Porter's fishing tackle shop , right on the border with 'Orrell', sign was up . Us from Norley weren't allowed over the border . Pemberton City Center had the lot , pubs , picture house , chippies , shops , police station , dairy , pet shop , car tax office , church , grave yard and undertakers . And I bet that list can / could be repeated in all the outlaying townships/district around Wigan . I'm just glad I was part of it .

Tracy's toffee shop was over the road from Jack Carringtons, I think next door to JCs was a fruit and veg shop. Stokes I think.

I remember back in the fifties there was a dairy somewhere around the back of the shops,where I used to deliver meat.

That would be Richmond Hill dairy Owddave, further down the road I think. opposite the Queens cinema?

Spot on Lolly , there was a snooker hall too , Mrs Pollitts fish shop lower down.
I remember being sent from Pem senior to Jack Carringtons for 2 white LACELESS footballs . They were brand new and replaced the old lace up balls .
He gave two little things and called them the ball's friend ( valve to blow them up ). This was ground breaking technology .

I remember them Nordic there was a screw end that screwed into
the pump and along needle like bit that looked like a hyprerdermic
needle

Stokes Veg shop, and Campbells chemist. Jack Carringtons. I went to school with Elizabeth Stokes.

Lovely , went up to Pem' Wednesday/ Thursday this week , stocked up with 30 pies from England's butchers . Great . ( I'm as rotund as a rodent ) , ( fat as a rat). Had a wonder around Pem ' .
