I, personally, like the shape of the street light, or lampost as we called them back then.

With all the posts about the brook I thought i would show you what was there according to the 1907 map.
That area was the heart of pemberton going further back as it had the only well. You can see it marked on the map.
I had a relative growing up in Pingot houses in the 1700s. He lost his dad and went to live with his grandfather at one of the local farms at worsley green.

1904, I believe...

I pulled this pic off FB where it said it was Chapel St. I have double checked on Google Earth and the street seems to be Barton St.

A rare photo of the Long Wall in 'olden times'. Apparently there are only small remnants of it left today.

Summersales pit, 1979. At the left the trees are at the bottom end of the Long wall with the brook flowing just below.

Thanks Lolly. I used to help out the Browns in the sausage skin factory at the back of the pic, in 1991. I think they eventually moved to Ince into a new building.

Photo outside our house in Saddleback, at the back l to r, me Christine Barton, Janet Parkinson. On the front row, my sister Sandra and Ann Parkinson.

The name Parkinson rings a bell, and looking at the pic it would have been Saddleback Crescent.  Roundabout number 38? They look dressed for the annual walking day.

Edit I was close its number 34. Hugh  Parkinson. The dad?
