Re: Pemberton pics...
Just saw this on Facebook......
St John’s CE Pemberton
ยท
On 19th April this year St. John’s Primary School will be celebrating 140 years of serving this community in our current building (that’s a lot of children and their families calling this place home). One of the ways we are going to commemorate this occasion is by holding an exhibition of old photographs. If you have any photographs of St. John’s school from the past then, if possible, would you please either bring them to the front office so we photocopy them for our exhibition or email them to enquiries@admin.saintjohns.wigan.sch.uk . Thank you.
We are looking to hold this exhibition on Saturday 20th April – more details to follow.

I remember my Mam using the mangle in our yard..hail rain or snow, she wasn't so big but by gum she was a little tough 'un...when she washed a couple of things in the sink then put them through the mangle.there wasn't a drop of water came out..she could squeeze things with her hands until they were nearly dry.

Re: Pemberton pics...
I remember my grandma had a table mangle.
The mangle mechanism folded away under the top of a table about two feet square, and one of the table legs had a hinged metal plate at the bottom. This could be put flat on the ground, so you could put a foot on it to stop the whole shooting match wackering about when you were using the mangle.
Similar to pic below.

I remember being quite pally with the girl that lived in the house with the bay window. The house is still there
